There is nothing we love more than hearing about the weddings that our dresses are a part of. It is such an honour to know we have played a role in that special day, so call us nosey but finding out a bit about the couple, the wedding and why rental was a perfect choice, just makes our day. We also know how helpful you find hearing from other renters, so meet Rosie, a savvy bride who rented the stunning Rewritten Waterfall Dress in Sage Green Satin for her bridesmaid with the mission of the enviro-footprint of her wedding.
Location of wedding: Pennard House, Somerset
Engagement story: Rosie’s now husband, Rob, proposed whilst they were in Cornwall.
Cake flavours: A three-tier cake, one fruit cake layer that Rosie’s Grandmother baked, and a mixed berry layer and then a chocolate Guinness cake made by the Cake Architect in Bradford-upon-Avon.
Honeymoon destination: USA!
Did you consider buying a dress first of all? If so, what made you then consider renting instead?
Yes, I found Rewritten and knew I wanted their dresses for my bridesmaids. We tried them on in a shop but having previously been a bridesmaid myself I knew dresses tended to then just sit in a wardrobe afterward and wanted to reduce the environmental footprint of my wedding. So, when I found out Something Borrowed hired the Rewritten dresses, I didn’t hesitate to choose this as an option. They didn’t have every style that I wanted, so I bought one of the dresses for my bridesmaid and you couldn’t tell the difference between the bought and hired dresses!
What did you feel were the benefits of renting?
The benefits are less waste and less new stuff being made and bought for the wedding industry.
Why were you drawn to renting from Something Borrowed?
I was lucky that you did the style of dress I’d set my heart on for my bridesmaid.
Would you tell your friends and family about Something Borrowed?
I would absolutely tell them all about Something Borrowed.
Did other aspects of your wedding have the Something Borrowed ethos too?
We tried to use local and reused suppliers where we could. All our flowers came from a flower farm near the venue, our sparkling wine and soft drinks all came from local suppliers, and I made all our decorations myself.
How long did you rent the dresses for and why?
I rented the dress for 10 days so that it came at least a week before the wedding, in case it needed any small tweaks, but it actually arrived way before that which reassured me.
How do you feel about the process of receiving and returning your dress?
The whole process was super easy, the pre-packaged return envelope was great too.
