how it started
When our founder Christie got married she witnessed firsthand the waste created by her own wedding, which made her consider the scale of waste produced by the wedding industry as a whole.
Christie felt inspired to tackle this and knew that the wedding dress itself was a great starting point. A wedding dress is usually an expensive wear-once item that is often left redundant after the big day. Something Borrowed was born from this desire to reduce waste and offer a sustainable alternative to the traditional bridal wear industry.
Something Borrowed’s aim is to provide a quality bridal wear rental service that encourages a more circular approach and at a more affordable price point. Meaning the garments and items worn on a wedding day aren’t contributing to the global fashion waste issue, and are giving brides, and our planet, a better deal.

We pride ourselves on offering brides a rental service that they can trust, with a personalised and convenient approach so they can focus on the importance of their special day.

Excessive production causes landfill overflow in the UK, including the wedding industry. Wedding dresses, rarely worn more than once, are among the most unsustainable purchases. Renting offers a cost-saving and eco-friendly solution. At Something Borrowed, rent dresses up to 50% off retail price, supporting a shared clothing economy and sustainable weddings.
